We opened up our hospice September 5, 2007. Once we were licensed we were informed that the state would no longer be doing our medicare survey that we needed to go through either CHAP or Joint Commission. They recommended CHAP so we started on that process. After working on the self study that CHAP requires for a couple of months I was completely overwhelmed. At this point I called Jayne Jessop at Compliance Review. After talking to her I knew we could do this. She explained to me the service that they provide to help hospices get through the accreditation process. They also recommended we us Joint Commission. Thanks to their help we were accredited by the Joint Commission on July 10, 2008. If it had not been for Compliance Review I am sure we would not be accredited today.

Starting all over in itself was a big challenge , having to go through Joint Commission in order to get Medicare Certified was even a larger one. But with God in front and Compliance Review Services beside us, we not only became the first agency here to be Joint Commission Deemed Status Accredited but passed with 100% compliance!!Thanks for all the support and guidance. I was a case manager for a home health agency for one year after working as a pediatric private duty nurse with a couple of patients for about a year. I had worked as a NICU RN for about 23 years. My experience in the homes and in case management was that most agencies did not show the caring, commitment, and compassion that these special children and their families need. So after knowing that my calling was to open an agency that truly cares and wants the very best for our patients and their families, I knew that this was something I needed to do. I wanted everything to be done honestly, right, and fairly. I knew I was not capable of writing out books and books of policies and procedures. I felt totally lost in the world of DADS and what we needed to comply with all of the regulations and do everything right. I called Compliance Review Services. I knew from the first phone call that they were all professionals and I felt totally and completely at peace with the decision to hire them to handle all of our start up needs. There service has been so very helpful to us from the very first meeting and they have continued to assist us with policy changes and answers to many of our questions as a new agency. We were even able to take our administrator classes through them easily.

It has been such a pleasure working with Jayne and Michael. We have been so taken care of. When we had our first licensure survey with DADS, we were very prepared and when we needed a plan of correction, Michael was right there doing everything for us. He even stayed late on a Friday to ease my worries and get it done within a day for me. We started on February 4th, 2008 and admitted three patients our first day. We then admitted two more patients within a few weeks. We have been in business since February of 2008 and we have 18 patients. We have kept all of our patients with us up to this point and look forward to serving other patients and their families in the future. I do not think I would have had the courage or ability to do this without Compliance Reviews assistance. Working with them has been a privilege and a blessing!
